Insightful Conversation Bites

Bite 1 On a lonely morning when other elder ladies of the home were away. I was asked to see that our maid do her work properly. This gave me a chance to interact with her much more than I usually engage in. The talks between us moved along lines of Diwali gifts and somehow reached a point that I heard this story from her that left a mark on my mind. So she and many like her feel what we do to earn is predecided in our fate. The example given in reference was that of Jwala temple in Rajasthan. As she narrated, outside this temple, there are a lot of men and women from working age group, physically able and fit who depend only on alms for livelihood. People visiting the temple give money or other things to them. All the good pucca houses around the temple on the hill are owned by these beggars (or professional alms seekers as I wish to call them now on). She, so innocently said and believed that they were blessed and bestowed by the good god who did not wa...

Female

When they are born some people glee others don't even want to see their female child so cute so mild What have they done that you prefer only a son the answer is usually given by none From young age, they are victimised even if they deserve to be prized Are taught household chores early as they grow old Rather than making them brave and bold To face the challenges of Life Than merely being someone's wife Because they are meek Are generally considered as weak To serve their parents at times they are patients When they reach adolescence Why do we make out a different sense? of their every action Even if they intended towards perfection After being married, they are just carried By exchanging rings, they become things searching for self-recognition with full instinct In her husband's place, to win the race She gives her best, without having rest After being abused when she is refused to stay there her pendulum life begins here between two ...

Civilisation without Assimilation

What are we? The mighty human race! With medals, for history, we could trace Or the genius of having predicted the future race Funny isn't it? we left the present Ignoring the lessons that were quite easy to be learnt We mastered identifying the location, tone of skin, sound & script But in our own race, we found ways how to be distinct Ruining the natural balance of nature By always keeping humans at the centre We made many species go extinct Forgetting that all creatures are interlinked And all the focus on diversity never led to curiosity To connect with each other, on the basis of enormous similarity Did we so much fear the establishment of Parity? that we brought the theory of pollution and purity. Who defined these terms? Our selfish means did That valued own comfort putting others lives in a bid.

When we change the world changes

Let us try co-operation and not competition Make an effort to calm and not claim Build power to face everything with grace Life has its own pace Well we aren't in a race Be at ease while facing difference It's just another experience And a time to show more confidence Things cannot always be our way Catch these thoughts in your head & play Choosing the best ones to sow Good changes can help us grow Accept and see through new lens See well, it too might make some sense Withdrawing too requires power The insecurities may else conquer Free yourself from the baggage of expectations Anxieties and anticipations Let new ideas penetrate Show patience and tolerate Remove the deep-rooted fears Empathize with others tears Look at new ways of thinking it could act as a bridge for linking Every perspective might look little defective Take the best from all and live Raise your voice against exploitation Get involved in finding a solution Courage to s...

Another Perspective of Empowering Women

She does not know it!!! While thinking and travelling across city streets I am quite into a habit of observing the most unnoticeable things. Today when I was driving myself and feeling wonderful about it or say more empowered, my thoughts wandered on how can every woman be made strong and independent by getting the privilege of driving. My thoughts were blown away by the sight of a thin lady clad in typical south style saree behind hundreds of tender coconut bunches. What dismayed me was the tool in her hand that looked out of place. For she was a petite figure holding a huge knife with a strong grip and using it fearlessly to chop off the hard coconut shells. I have seen this kind of scene before but today it shook me for how I was looking at women empowerment and privilege women seek. Why don't we appreciate these ladies who take up work which is not considered her type by society? Why are they left? I felt they are already empowered. They are strong mentally, psychologicall...

Change from the edge

Innocence was good there were no fears Childhood was a period We were free to let flow our tears Mind didn't have much to worry All grudges one could easily burry Life was a feast, of colourful days Lots of choices and myriad ways No manual of happiness guided anyone No timelines to chase and get stuff done Silly acts, too made us bloom Frowns had no fixed room Stars were pure magic Moon played the trick It's periodic waxing and waning From shapes of a disc to a deformed ring Then the knowledge was imparted in institutions About the actual stars and the world Which had an impact that was mind-bending And gradually innocence became an ephemeral thing As we grew up, with implicit meanings We got wrapped up in worldly things Now we are lost in a labyrinth Mutually coexisting in a myth That the world will change and then will we Till then, just wait and out we see Why not look within yourself and let the change begin from thee Do you fear the wrat...

The Disposable Attitude

Disposable as a word and a character trait has secured a significant place in all spheres of our lives. Disposables usually refers to use and throw products with a very short life-span. It is for the sake of our convenience that we choose disposables. From tissue paper, cutlery, and now  even people are treated as disposable. If you talk to an elderly person with a pen tucked in his shirt pocket, and ask him about the pen. He would describe how and when he got it, how many times it has been refilled, wiped, maintained, lost and found until this day. You will find his eyes gleaming with pride on having preserved the pen so well and not because of the monetary value it holds. You may wonder what is it that is he too attached to a thing? Try  asking him about any furniture or his relationships too and you would a the pattern I am urging you to look at.You would notice that for his generation, everything associated to one was valued far more than what we see around us in the...
